The Daily Laws by Robert Greene

Daily Law: Depending on others is misery; Depending on yourself is power.

For me attachment becomes comfort, and comfort becomes stagnation. And like I said before, if you're not growing you're dying. So I try and avoid becoming reliant on other people. I remember the pain of having to catch a ride to go places, and being stuck there until my ride was ready to leave. That pain is the reason I don't go anywhere unless I drive. So I try and carry that mentality into other areas of my life as well. Also, acquire the knowledge needed to get things done yourself. When you need something done but don't know how to do it, you're counting on someone else to do it for you. And don't let there be a deadline because you'll beg that person to get the job finished. The longer it takes them, the more animosity you'll feel towards that person. And it's not just people that can become crutches. Your habits can become your comfort zone whether they're harmful or helpful. If you're reading this, you're probably aware of that and ready to make a few changes in your daily life. Since I'm in that arc as well, all I'll say is keep going and push past your limits!
