The Daily Laws by Robert Greene

Daily Law: Remember that what you are after is a series of practical results and accomplishments, not a list of unrealized dreams and aborted projects. Working with smaller, embedded goals will keep you moving in such a direction.

I'm a great goal setter, but following through has always been a challenge. I believe the disconnect is when I stick to the plan, do the work, but don't get any satisfaction from it. So if I'm not getting those hits of dopamine from the pains of advancing forward, it's easy for me to run back to comfort. In Robert's explanation, he basically states to set long term goals and a downward ladder of smaller goals. These smaller goals are checkpoints for the main objective, but they also give you that hit of dopamine needed to keep going. Unless you're in a do or die situation, you really need a driving force to keep you trying to accomplish more. And yeah I know there are people who say "You just need discipline". Screw those people. If I can't find the pleasure in what I'm doing, it's just not worth it. So let me figure it out my way. And if you're reading this, I invite you to join me. My ultimate goal for this brand is to form a community who identifies as Spade. And I want it to last far beyond my lifetime.
